InSight: Will Berry
This month Page Bond Gallery hosts new paintings by Will Berry, a Nashville-born Mexico City-living artist. Berry layers aluminum leaf, gesso, and linen on cedar panels creating an eerily transfixing visual experience. The exhibition text muses on how Berry “treats painting as an object and not representation” and specifically how in this instance “the gaze frees any present cultural content.” Appropriately, a vampire metaphor is used. The vampire looks in a mirror but does not see an image of himself.
Will Berry New Works is on view until December 3rd.
